Still Life Painting & Drawing
These are still life painting & drawing of puppets that I did at the beginning of the term. First I looked at the composition of the objects before deciding on this vertical shape with the objects aligning diagonally.
For the painting, first I created a mixed media background using pieces of cardboard, fabric, straw, etc. The painting itself is done using various media from acrylic to oil pastel.
This black and white version is also created using different medias such as ink, chalk and oil pastel.
This project went on for 2 weeks

Pop-ups Book project
In this project we were given a text and was asked to make a pop-ups book.
After doing some research on illustration techniques, I did some brainstorming on the shapes of the book.
The text was,
Earth's Clock
Imagine that the earth was shaped twenty four hours ago
Then at 6 a.m. rains fell from the sky
To form the seas below
At 8 a.m. in these soupy seas
The first signs of life appeared
The dinosaurs calles twenty minutes ago
But at twenty to twelve disappeared
Man arrived just one minute ago
Then at thirty seconds to midnight
Raised himself from his stooping stance
And started walking upright
In the thirty seconds man's walked the earth
See what he's managed to do
by Pat Moon
The final product
I used coloured powder inks to create various background, then scanned and worked on them using Photoshop.
The shape of the book allows it to be a pop-up by itself.

Viva Las Vegas Project
In this project, I was working in a team of 4 students from different course choices. As the product designer of the team, I was in charge of designing a set of cocktail glasses for a bar area in a casino in Las Vegas.
First, as a team, we decided upon 3 ancient cultures for the theme of our project. Our choices were Japanese, Greek and Egyptian cultures. Then we researched on these 3 cultures and produce some images to represent these cultures.
Moreover, I did some research on cocktail glasses already available on market, both the basic models and the "twisted" models.
The next step was for each member of the team to choose an image from their research, then we all did brainstorming based on the 4 images we have chosen.
Upon selecting 3 designs that go as a set, final drawing and a prototype was produced.

Recycled Chair
The brief was to design and construct a chair out of recycled materials. The chair has to be quarter the size of real chair and is able to withstand the weight of quarter human size.
After brainstorming on materials and shapes, I decided to use cardboard because it is
strong, easy to shape and easy to obtain.
First I did a small model to see how the shape would work out. I put a weight on it to test its stability.
Then I cut down the sides to see if it's still as stable standing on four legs.
However, when it comes to making the real size with thick cardboard, it became more challenging as the thickness of the cardboard has to be considered. This shape isn't holding well and wobbly.
Finally I decided on putting 2 legs in front in order to spread the weight distribution.
